this is a very typical scene in this neighborhood - the writing looks like it says "yen" (even though it doesn't) and the red door makes me think of a japanese flag. yes, i know, the japan thing is a bit of a stretch, but i really enjoyed this when i saw it -- lower east side, manhattan (click foto to enlarge)
